Flying Home.
02.27.07 (6:19 pm)   [edit]

Craig and I are going away for a few days. Thursday will be the second anniversary since Ali left us. In honor of Ali I just want to feature three links. Her video, her xanga site and our Caringbridge page. Caringbridge is where we updated people on her condition. You need to go to the bottom and read up. I guess that it is a testament to her battle. Her xanga site is a testament to her courage, her caring and her humor. There are a couple of entries where she expresses anger and disappointment, but for the most part, I think you will find her to be an amazing and funny young woman. The video is simply a testament to a beautiful life.  I don't expect anyone to read them really...I just want them out there so on March 1st her spirit is not forgotten.  Thanks for all of your love and support and I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

Alison Haley—you are missed more each day. How blessed we are to have had you in our lives for even a very short time. I love you.

Flying Home (Brenda's Song) lyrics by CHANTAL KREVIAZUK  (the song on her video)

Its hard to let you go
You've always let me in
And helped with all the endings
And you know where to begin
I need you here for me
Cause you always know my heart
I can't believe we'd change
Or have to be apart

But if you've seen the love that's in her eyes
Then everything is good
And if you know the way she felt inside
She's flying where she should
I never believed we'd ever live to see
An angel being born and flying home

It's good to know your laugh
And you'll always hold my hand
And watch from up in heaven
And always understand
We'll take you down the road
And in everything we do
We'll know how much you love us
A soul that's kind and true.

But if you've seen the love that's in her eyes
Then everything is good
And if you know the way she felt inside
She's flying where she should
I never believed we'd ever live to see
An angel being born and flying home

I just watched the video. Ali looked like someone who made the most out of life. They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, so I have no doubt she was special. *hug*

"An angel being born and flying home" I love that line in the song. Remember that someone guided her between birth and heaven. Someone showed her that love and courage and hope. I know because I see a piece of her everytime I look at you.

Thank you for your willingness to get to know her. It makes me feel in some respects that she is still alive. I know that doesn't make sense...but I rarely do! I had a lovely time thank you.

She really did enjoy life and it was contagious. I think that is a difficult void to fill--for everyone who knew her. Thank you for your comment...not sure how I was lucky enough to raise two wonderful daughters.

So often my mind goes to those times in our house when it was filled with screaming girls...eating, talking, causing flood and fire. I have great memories as well... and you are central to them. Nice to hear from you Alli.

Thank you for taking time to visit those links--to get to know about Ali and our life together. It means alot. So many times I think about how ironic it is that I feel such a sense of strength and support from a group of friends that I will probably never even meet. It is a blessing...and you are a blessing...so thank you.

That is a wonderful thing to hear Katie and I will add that your family has had a tremendous impact on our family. Megan said that she saw Max yesterday and I felt like she was talking about my long lost son. :) It was so good to hear from you.

Every time I look at those words or hear that song I can't help but cry. It is hopeful and comforting. Thank you for your tender words because sometimes...often...I doubt that I did everything how I was supposed to and that is a frightening thought...to be inadequate in that situation. How do you prepare for such a thing? I'm sorry Ashli that you are facing your own battle with this horrendous disease. You are a warrior and I am honored to be your friend.

What a nice comment. Thank you...and thank you for taking time to read my blog and about Ali and our 'journey'. I guess what I want people to get from it all is about the preciousness of life... and the joy in the little things. Hope some of that came through. I had a great time away and I came back very refreshed. Thank you for the hugs and prayers. :)

Time does seem to fly...I think that's why I felt so frustrated for a while...I felt like I should be farther along. That turned out to be wrong. My new motto: It is what it is. You are a sweetheart and I am always happy to see your name pop up.

The preciousness of life and the joy of the little things did come through. It is so easy to get wrapped up in whatever is stressing us and not remembering to enjoy life. I used to be really bad about it but i've been making an effort to enjoy life now, some days are easier than others.

I'm glad you came back all rested up. :) *hugs*

A very touching tribute to Ali. She was born in the same year as my grandson and I just can't imagine the hurt you must feel in her loss.

The words in the song were very touching and I had never heard it before. I liked the line about I never believed I'd be watching an angel being born then flying home.
