Open Letter to the woman in line at Starbuck's...
04.24.06 (11:46 pm)   [edit]
I'm wondering how you get to the point in life where having to wait five minutes for a latte becomes a major tragedy in your life. I'm wondering how anyone becomes so irrational, paranoid, narcissistic and bitter that they lash out at a hard-working teenaged kid...because in their heart they know that they were the victim of a major conspiracy to deprive them of their morning buzz. Obviously, this woman has borne the brunt of life's iniquities for many years... the broken Prada heel, the cloudy days at the beach house, the persistent dark roots peering through her pristine blondeness. Life was unfair--people were being served before her damn it-- she was mad as hell and not going to take it anymore. I do not know your name, poor wretched one... but, this I say to you. I hope that the worst problem that you ever face is a latte served in the wrong order. I hope that all of your days are filled with the same sunshine and grace that resonated from your soul that rainy day in Chicago; and finally, I hope that by God's grace you never find yourself at a Starbuck's standing next to your dear friend who has just been diagnosed with a rare cancer listening to a shallow and selfish woman bitching like a lunatic over a $3.00 cup of coffee.

Okay... I take it back. Yeah! The bitch is here! I couldn't open up the purgatory blog earlier this a.m. in the midst of my insomnia. I am so glad you wrote about her. I don't even have the capacity to hate her. I just feel sorry for her. If her world is never rocked, how will she ever gain any perspective and be as cool as us?
Love you so much!
Ashli

P.S. - I just got up early to make one of your famous bacon, egg, and cheese omelettes. It is good, but I can't get the bacon to be as perfect as yours. Now this qualifies as tragedy!

MoM, I have never seen you impatient! Well maybe about the line for a table when going out to dinner but, coffee never. Tea maybe, grocery line sometimes, popcorn line at the movies, once I think. But never Coffee. I love ya Linda

I'm so mad at you right now, Lori! I vowed to go to bed shortly after the kids as Karl is enjoying "guys night" for many more hours and instead have been addicted to catching up on your blogs. Not only that, you, Ashli, and my friend Libby are all responsible for the irrational decision I made earlier today to start my own blog! WHY??? But, in truth, you know your stories are inspiring to me. You are a marvel and will always be a precious part of my life. I can't wait to see you again....Danielle

This needs to be published! How do we get so confused about what is really important in life?

Your Mother told me that your blog and my blog have the same energy..so I came to vist;
Where you stand you can see the truth, where Ms Broken Heel Prada stands ..she can only see the calorie label on her starbuck's cup.
In the end the sun shines on both.
She might complain that it is bad for her skin and hide her face...I am certain YOu bask in it and shine stronger!
You are a ray of light!
